This guide explains how to optimize connection range and maintain a stable signal when using Deeper Quest or Deeper Spark, especially at longer distances.
1. Raise Your Phone or Remote Controller
For Deeper Quest, keep the Remote Controller at least 1.2 m (4 ft) above the water level. Using a tripod is strongly recommended.
For Deeper SPARK, keep your smartphone at least 1.2 m (4 ft) above the water level. If you are using the optional SPARK Remote Controller, keep the remote controller at least 1.2 m (4 ft) above the water level instead. Higher elevation improves signal transmission and helps maintain a more stable connection.
Important: When using Spark with a smartphone (without the Remote Controller), the effective connection range may vary depending on the mobile device used, including the performance of its Wi-Fi hardware, antenna design, and operating system-specific wireless connectivity behaviour. In particular, effective connection range on iPhone devices may be shorter due to platform-specific wireless connectivity behaviour. Actual range can also be affected by environmental and usage conditions, such as wind, waves, obstacles, and radio interference in the area.
2. Keep Antennas Vertical
For Deeper Quest, ensure that:
The Remote Controller antenna is fully vertical relative to the water surface
The Deeper Quest antenna is fully vertical relative to the water surface
Incorrect antenna orientation can significantly reduce signal strength.
3. Avoid Obstacles and Interference
Maintain a clear line of sight between you and the boat.
Avoid:
Trees and branches
Bushes and vegetation
Metal structures
Be aware of environmental interference from nearby radio devices or Wi-Fi networks, which can negatively affect signal quality.
4. Use the Antenna Extension Module
For Deeper Quest, use the Antenna Extension Module included in the Deeper Quest set to raise the antenna higher above the water.
This improves signal clarity and helps achieve maximum range.
5. Check Antenna Installation
For Deeper Quest, ensure that the boat antenna is properly installed and tightly screwed in.
If you experience poor range:
Try using the spare antenna included in the tool roll kit
This helps determine whether the original antenna may be faulty
Deeper Spark Connection Range
Deeper Spark is designed to be controlled directly through the Fish Deeper app using the integrated on-screen joystick.
Control Method | Maximum Range |
Fish Deeper app only | Up to 150 m (492 ft) |
Fish Deeper app + optional Spark Remote Controller | Up to 250 m (820 ft) |
The Spark Remote Controller is sold separately as an accessory. If you need a longer connection range, using the optional Spark Remote Controller can help extend the range up to 250 m (820 ft).
