In this article, you will learn how to use Deeper Quest and Spark Autopilot features, including setting the Home point, selecting mission types and using Digital Anchoring (Deeper Quest only), and understanding safety functions.
Home Point
The Home point is the location where your Deeper bait boat returns after completing each autopilot mission.
It is set automatically when the bait boat is placed in the water
It can be adjusted manually in the Fish Deeper app
How to Edit the Home Point
Locate the Home icon on the map
Tap and hold the icon for about 2 seconds
A menu will appear at the bottom of the screen
Drag the map to your desired Home point location
Tap Set
Important: The Home point cannot be edited during an active autopilot mission.
Autopilot Control Dashboard
The Autopilot dashboard can be accessed by tapping the Deeper Bait Boat icon in the top-right corner of the Fish Deeper app.
From here, you can:
Create and manage missions
Select mission types
Configure mission settings (sub-missions)
Use Anchor (available only for Deeper Quest bait boat)
Tip: you can pause any active Autopilot mission by moving the controller joystick.
Autopilot Mission Types
1. Go To Spot
The simplest autopilot mission.
How it works:
Tap the spot
Select Go To Spot
Tip: You can add sub-actions, such as:
Opening specific hoppers upon arrival (Available for Deeper Quest only)
Automatically returning to the Home point after completion
2. Route Scan
Allows you to create a custom route by placing multiple points on the map.
How it works:
Mark multiple spots (no limit)
The bait boat will follow them in sequence
Tip:
You can assign actions to each point (e.g., open different hoppers at different spots).
The Fish Deeper app will display the estimated mission duration.
3. Area Scan
Automatically scans a selected rectangular area.
How it works:
Select a rectangular zone on the map
The bait boat will scan it in a zig-zag (transect) pattern
Before starting:
The app will display the estimated mission duration.
Managing the Boat Movement Path (Scan Path)
During a session, the Deeper bait boat movement path is displayed on the map as a blue line.
How to Hide the Path:
Open your session (live or from history)
Tap the Layers icon (top-left corner)
Find Scan Path in the menu
Toggle it off
Safety Features
Deeper Quest and Spark is equipped with following automatic safety features:
If the bait boat moves out of connection range, it will automatically return toward your position until the connection is restored.
If the bait boat loses connection completely, it will automatically return to Home location.
If the battery of the bait boat or remote controller drops to 5%, the boat will automatically return to the Home point.
Important Usage Recommendations
Maintain direct line of sight, especially for missions beyond 300 m (984 ft)
Ensure there are no obstacles (islands, vegetation, structures) between you and the mission area
Avoid planning routes that pass over obstacles
Do not use Autopilot in extreme weather conditions (strong wind, heavy rain, high waves)
Avoid starting missions if battery levels are close to 5%
Digital Anchoring (Hold GPS Position)
Anchoring allows the Deeper Quest bait boat to hold its position at a specific GPS location with the highest possible accuracy. This feature is not available for Deeper Spark.
When activated, the boat:
Locks its current GPS position
Continuously corrects itself to stay at that exact point
Maintains position automatically without manual input
This is useful for:
Stationary sonar scanning
Precise fishing
Observing a specific location
Note:
Anchoring is automatically activated upon finishing any kind of Autopilot mission. You can turn it off in the Autopilot control menu by selecting Drift After Mission.
Anchoring performance depends on GPS accuracy. If GPS signal quality is reduced due to environmental factors, anchoring precision may decrease. In such conditions, the boat may require more frequent position corrections and may not hold as tightly to the exact anchoring point.
How Anchoring Works
When anchoring is activated:
The boat records its exact GPS coordinates as the anchoring point
It continuously compares its real-time position with this point
If drift occurs (due to wind, current, or waves), the boat corrects its position
Position Accuracy
The system operates within an approximate 2 m radius
The boat always attempts to return to the exact locked point, not just stay within the radius
Manual Anchoring
You can activate anchoring at any time:
Via a dedicated button in the Fish Deeper app
By pressing the Remote Controller Joystick knob.
What Happens When Activated
The current GPS position is saved as the anchoring point
The boat begins holding position automatically
Important:
Manual anchoring overrides any active autopilot mission
The mission will be paused when anchoring is activated
How to Exit Anchoring
Anchoring can be stopped by:
Pressing the anchoring button again (app or controller)
Performing any manual joystick action
Starting or resuming an autopilot mission
Note: If Anchoring is turned off during a paused mission, the mission will remain paused and will not resume automatically.
