Yes, it is normal, because the Deeper Smart Sonar emits ultra-sound to scan the bottom.
If you're using a Wide beam setting, such clicking sounds are more noticeable when you first place the Deeper sonar in the water.
If you're using a Narrow beam, you will not hear such noises because of the higher frequency of the ultrasound.
