Deeper Bait Boat Performance in Difficult Weather Conditions (Heavy Waves, Wind, etc.)

This FAQ explains how Deeper Quest and Deeper Spark perform in challenging weather conditions such as strong wind, heavy waves, and rain, and outlines best practices for safe and effective use.

Performance in Adverse Weather

Deeper Quest and Deeper Spark are designed for reliable operation in real-world fishing conditions, including moderate wind, light rain, and choppy water.

Both devices are water-resistant and suitable for both freshwater and saltwater use. However, performance may be affected in more extreme conditions, and such use is not recommended.

What to Expect in Heavy Waves and Strong Wind

Heavy Waves

  • Large or frequent waves may temporarily lift the device out of the water

  • Rapid tilting can affect sonar beam alignment

  • This may result in interrupted sonar data or reduced accuracy and connection range

Strong Wind

  • Wind can push the boat off course

  • Steering may become less precise

  • Connection range may be reduced

Recommendation: Plan routes with extra margin for drift and monitor the boat’s position in real time within the Fish Deeper app.

Best Practices in Difficult Conditions

  • Maintain visual contact. Always keep the Deeper Quest or Deeper Spark within sight to react quickly if conditions change.

  • Keep your smartphone or remote controller at least 1.2 m (4 ft) above the water surface for better connection stability.

  • When using Deeper Spark with your smartphone, keep your smartphone at least 1.2 m (4 ft) above the water surface.

  • When using Deeper Spark or Deeper Quest with a Remote Controller, keep the Remote Controller at least 1.2 m (4 ft) above the water surface.

  • Avoid extreme weather. Do not operate in very strong wind or heavy wave conditions whenever possible.

  • Avoid strong currents. Do not use the Deeper Quest or Deeper Spark in rivers with fast-moving currents.

Safety and Device Protection

  • Do not operate during lightning or thunderstorms.

  • Avoid using the device in heavy rain.

  • The Deeper Quest Remote Controller and Spark Remote Controller are splash-resistant, not waterproof. Do not expose them to heavy rain or very damp environments.
